| KNURLED PIN | HOLE AND PUNCHING OPTIONS |
| Flaps will close to a parallel position with a gap approximately half the pin diameter. | All drawings show cross-section through hinge knuckle |

| PART CENTRED | STANDARD PIN |
Hinge flaps close to a parallel position with a reduced gap. (part joggled or part swaged). |
The hinge pin is flush with the hinge flaps at both ends and is held in place by the tightness of the hinge flaps curled around it. |
| OFF SET FLAPS | SHORT PIN |
| Both flaps are offset and when the hinge is in a closed position the flaps are parallel but the distance between the flaps will be greater than the pin diameter. |
One or both hinge flaps having an angle running the length of the hinge worked in to the flap.

EXTENDED PIN |
| Three flaps with two pins on centre flap holding the outer flaps. | Hinge pin extends beyond the hinge flaps at one or both ends. |

| REVERSE ASSEMBLED DOUBLE KNUCKLE |
REMOVABLE PIN
| Three flaps with two pins on centre flap holding the two outer reverse assembled flaps. | Hinge pin can be easily extracted from hinge flaps, the pin is usually cranked at one end. If te hinge is to be used in an upright position, the crank must be at the top of the hinge to prevent the pin falling out. Sufficient space must be available to remove pin. |
| MULTI FLAP | STAKED PIN |
| Hinge construced from three or more flaps operating around the same pin. |
Hinge knuckle is deformed, usually by striking the knuckles
of one flap e.g. with a centre punch to increase the knuckles grip on
the hinge pin. This is usually more effective when the hinge pin is a
softer material than the flap.
